2021 Treasure Coast Skills Gap 2.1 Study Findings

The Skills Gap 2.1 was initiated in January 2021 by the St. Lucie EDC to understand the impact of the COVID pandemic on industry-wide workforce needs and continue the progress from the community efforts following the 2017 and 2019 Skills Gap Studies. With each iteration the community drilled deeper into issues using the knowledge gained by the community efforts undertaken from search previous study, and the new knowledge gained through the current process. St. Lucie County continues its economic growth on projects such as Amazon "first mile” fulfillment center, Chandler Bats manufacturing, Cheney Brothers warehouse/distribution, Contender Boats, D& D Welding, FedEx warehouse/distribution, Freshco Indian River Select, Jan Steel, and Maverick Boat Group. Industrial development properties include The Sansone Group Legacy Park, Seefried Logistics Center, The Silverman Group Interstate Crossroads, Stonemont So. Florida Logistics Center 95 and Tambone Tradition.

The first half of 2021 brought extraordinary advances in economic development and job creation to St. Lucie County. In addition to forward motion on previously announced projects, more than 1,700 new jobs and $200 million in capital investments were announced. With our county and city governments, the EDC and our partners all working together, St. Lucie County has truly come into its own this year.
